This Endeavour Hills home had a number of cracks showing through the rendered walls, particularly along the upper storey and around the roofline. The team at Best Rendering Group carried out a full crack repair, then finished the walls with two coats of Dulux Acrashield membrane for a durable, flexible coating that's built to handle movement without cracking again.
The problem
Hairline and structural cracks had opened up across the rendered surfaces, particularly around the roof and wall junctions where the two materials meet and expand at different rates. Left untreated, cracks like these let water track in behind the render, which leads to bigger problems down the track.
Scope of works
- Scaffolding erected around the two-storey section for safe, stable access to the upper walls and roofline
- All cracks cut back, cleaned out and repaired before any coating went on
- New flashing tape installed along the roof and wall junction to stop water getting in behind the render
- Two coats of Dulux Acrashield membrane applied for a flexible, waterproof finish
- Two-tone grey and cream colour scheme carried through the upper storey
- Site cleaned up and scaffolding removed on completion
Getting set up
Because the crack repair covered the upper storey and the gable end, scaffolding went up first to give the crew safe, stable access to every section of wall before any repair or coating work began.
The finished result
With the cracks repaired and two coats of Dulux Acrashield membrane applied, the walls now have a smooth, even finish in a two-tone grey and cream that suits the home. Acrashield is a flexible membrane coating, so it's designed to move with the building rather than crack again.
Rendering in Endeavour Hills
This project sits alongside our other work as part of rendering in Endeavour Hills, where we cover crack repairs, full re-renders and membrane coatings across the local area.
